Today’s children are confronted with the new age of information, communication and entertainment. The electronic media is setting new norms of life-style. Modern culture has assumed monstrous proportions. All these put tremendous pressure on the youngsters. Parents hardly have any time for their children. Therefore, despite getting all materialistic comforts, today’s youngsters feel hopeless and distraught and get emotionally imbalanced and disoriented.

In this scenario, schools will have to play a very proactive role to save children from the negative consequence of the pressures of complex modern living and help them realize their full potential. Teacher can no more remain confined to their class teaching. Every teacher has to be a trained counselor too. Counselling really means a scientific process of helping an individual to achieve mental health and be self-directed, self-dependent and self-sufficient.

Like skills in education involves a dynamic teaching process that translates knowledge, attitude & skill of a child into a practical & social learning strategy. Children learn their life skills from parents, teachers and specially those who happen to be their role model. They learn gradually to use a particular skill effectively in diverse situation to cope with challenges of life. Attention has to be given for their all round personality development to face the fast changing.
